What EURUSD is
EURUSD is the price of one euro in US dollars. At 1.1225, a euro buys 1.1225 dollars; if the chart rises, the euro is strengthening against the dollar. It's the most traded currency pair in the world: in the BIS Triennial Survey of April 2025, euro–dollar trades were 21.2% of all foreign exchange turnover. Traders sometimes call it "Fiber".
| EURUSD | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pip | 0.0001, the fourth decimal place |
| Pip value | $10 per standard lot of 100,000 euros, $1 per mini lot, $0.10 per micro lot |
| Reference rate, 2 October 2026 | 1.1225 (ECB) |
| One euro in rupees | ₹108.12 on the same day |
So a 20-pip move on 1 lot is $200, and on 0.10 lots $20. The pip value calculator and lot size calculator work it out for any account currency.
What moves EURUSD
- Interest rates on each side: decisions and guidance from the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank. The next ones are the Fed on 28 October and the ECB on 29 October 2026.
- US data: CPI inflation and the jobs report usually move EURUSD more than European data, because they move the dollar against everything.
- Eurozone data: inflation, PMI surveys and growth figures, especially from Germany.
- Risk mood: in sharp sell-offs the dollar often gains as a safe haven. See forex market sentiment.
