Forex trading strategies: 29 rule-based strategies with free Pine Scripts, plus 5 Nifty option strategies

Every strategy here has fixed rules you can follow and test: when to enter, where the stop goes, where to take profit and how big to trade. Each page has its own chart, a worked example with the lot size, a free TradingView script and a one-page PDF, and the session-based pages give their times in IST.

How these strategy pages work

Most strategy articles describe an idea and leave the details to you. These pages do the opposite. Every rule is written down precisely enough that a computer can follow it, and the free Pine Script on each page does exactly that (for the Nifty option strategies, a payoff calculator takes its place), so you can run the strategy on TradingView's price history in a couple of minutes. How much history you get depends on your plan and the timeframe: the free plan loads 5,000 candles, a few months of 5- or 15-minute candles but years of daily ones.

What you won't find is a win rate or a profit claim. Results change with the market, the dates, the data feed and the costs you pay, and a number that looked good on someone else's test says little about yours. Each page shows you how to run the test yourself instead.

How to choose a strategy

The same risk rules apply to all of them

Every strategy here sizes the trade from the stop, so the same share of the account is at risk on every trade, usually 0.5% to 1%. The lot size calculator does that sum for forex and the gold lot size calculator for XAUUSD. If you only take one thing from these pages, take that.

Quick answers

What is the best forex trading strategy for beginners?

There isn't one strategy that's best for everyone. Simple rule-based strategies with a clear stop, such as the break and retest or the 9 and 21 EMA crossover, are easier to follow and to backtest, which makes them a sensible place to start. Whatever you pick, test it on a demo account first.

Which strategy works best for gold?

No strategy works best on gold all the time. Gold moves most in the London and New York sessions, so session strategies are popular: the London first-hour breakout, the New York break of the London range, the intraday pivot and XAUUSD scalping. For longer trades there's a 4-hour Donchian breakout. Each page has a free script so you can test it on gold yourself.

Are these strategies profitable?

This site doesn't publish win rates or profit figures, because results depend on the market, the dates and your costs. Each strategy comes with a free Pine Script so you can backtest it in TradingView with your own broker's costs before deciding.

Are the Pine Scripts free?

Yes. Every script is free to download, copy, change and share. They're written in Pine Script version 6 and run in TradingView's Strategy Tester.

Can I trade these strategies legally from India?

The rules work on any chart. To trade legally from India, use exchange-traded contracts through a SEBI-registered broker: EURUSD, GBPUSD and USDJPY on NSE and BSE, gold on MCX, and Nifty futures and options on NSE. Offshore forex and CFD platforms aren't allowed for residents.

Can I automate these strategies?

The scripts can send TradingView alerts, and some traders connect alerts to broker APIs. In India, automated trading by retail clients has to go through a broker's approved setup under SEBI's rules; see the algo trading in India guide on this site.
